Normal maps and PBR textures in your browser

About Normalforge

Last updated 2026-10-27

Normalforge is a free set of browser tools for the textures behind 3D and game materials: normal maps, PBR maps such as AO, roughness, metallic and ORM, height maps and terrain, seamless textures and texture utilities such as power-of-two resizing, mipmaps and sprite sheets. Each page does one job and works straight away: there is no account and nothing to install.

How it works

  • Everything runs in your browser. The pictures you load stay on your device; nothing is uploaded.
  • Maps are saved the way engines read them. Colour maps as sRGB, everything else as linear data, height maps in 16 bits, normal maps in OpenGL or DirectX style.
  • Results are computed, not typed in. The numbers quoted on each page come from the same code the tool runs, and that code is tested against independently calculated results.
  • Open-source libraries used by the tools are listed with their licences on the credits page.

If a tool gives a wrong result, please tell us through the contact page.
